About Rick & the Team
Scarborough Tennis Sports Academy is led by Rick Willsmore, a full-time coach since 2001 and founder of the academy in 2007. Originally from South Australia, Rick chose the beautiful northern beaches of Perth as the place to bring his vision to life. With experience in the U.S. college system and State League level competition across multiple Australian states, he set out to build more than just a coaching business. He wanted to create a place where players could grow as people as well as players, and where coaches could build careers with meaning.
Our coaching team comes from all over the world, but weβre united by shared values. We believe in showing up with clarity, consistency and care. Many of our coaches came through the academy themselves and now step forward to guide the next generation. Some of our coaches specialise in Hot Shots coaching, helping younger players enjoy the game through fun and structure. Others focus on junior club squads, tournament preparation and competitive development. Together weβve created a coaching culture that supports long-term progress and personal growth.
We teach mindset skills. We build strategy. We develop game styles that suit the individual. We focus on confidence, character and a love for the process, whether you're just starting out or working toward your personal best.
